Soundscapes

'What if sound would be seen as a building material? Could we make invisible borders or spaces, only to be distinguished by ear?'

This project focusses on a walk from the Royal Acadamy of Arts to the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. While doing this walk I found myself categorising it in spaces. Specific turns or crossings became the border of each space. I became interested in this ‘invisible border’ and linked it to a phenomena in sound which allows you to aim it at a specific location. In this installation I tried to capture the sound between two half spheres. By moving your head through this invisible space the sound will grow louder or softer.
